WALTHALL — Representatives from the Golden Triangle Planning and Development District conducted the Webster County Advisory Committee meeting on July 19.
The report was given during a recessed meeting of the Webster County Board of Supervisors.
GTPDD staff and Executive Director Rudy Johnson gave updates for the county overview for FY2021 projects and services. These included a presentation of pending, active and completed grant applications, and information regarding social services the agency provides (see accompanying chart).
Of note, GIS Manager Toby Sanford said redistricting data is scheduled to be released Sept. 30.
District 4 Supervisor Paul Crowley was reappointed to a four-year term on the GTPDD board ending July 2025 and Chancery Clerk Russ Turner was reappointed for another one-year position as Advisory Committee chairman, both by acclamation.
Other Business
In other business July 19, the Board of Supervisors approved motions to:
• spread upon the minutes a certificate from the Mississippi Department of Revenue stating it has a received a correct copy of the recapitulation of the real and personal assessment rolls.
• accept a lone bid of $2,750 from Fryfogle Manufacturing Inc. (Gordon Fryfogle) for a lowboy trailer owned by District 5.
• allow Fire Investigator Barry Rushing to attend an associational seminar Aug. 11-13 in Pearl.
• approve a 16th Section residential lease signed by Marie O’Briant and authorize the president to sign.
• amend the 2020-21 Sheriff’s Department budget by transferring the $30,000-plus administration fee received from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for 2017 flood disaster mitigation into that budget. This will be to allow a vehicle to be purchased before Oct. 1, according to the discussion.
• amend jail contracts with the city of Eupora, town of Mathiston and town of Maben to hold prisoners of their police departments at the rate of $29.74 per day, which is the per diem amount paid by the state, effective Oct. 1. This is an increase from $25.
• remove Kali Thompson and Amy Latham from all duties as part-time 911 dispatchers, and hire Aaron Kelly as a part-time dispatcher, all effective immediately.
The board met in executive session about 10 minutes for personnel reasons. No action was taken.
