At a regular meeting of the Choctaw County Board of Supervisors, on Tuesday, July 6, representatives from the Golden Triangle Planning & Development District made their annual report.
The report dealt with several different grants affecting infrastructure projects, and social services that are provided by GTPDD.
Mike Hughes addressed the Board concerning insurance issues, and District 3 Supervisor, Chris McIntire, made a motion to ask the Economic District Board to cover their paid employee with Workman’s Comp insurance. The Board voted unanimously in favor of the motion.
Board President, Joey Stephenson, made motions to submit ERBR (Emergency Road & Bridge Repair) applications for the Fentress-Panhandle Road Bridge and Huntsville Road Bridges. The Board voted unanimously in favor of the motions. The Board also voted 5-0 to authorize advertising an off-road project as presented by County Engineer Marty Crowder. McIntire made a motion to authorize a purchase order in the amount of $397K for a fire truck from Goldy’s Fire for the Chester Fire Department. The motion was approved unanimously.
In other action, the Board:
•Voted 5-0 to ask Southeastern Timber Products to redraw their request for tax exemption to exclude Fire, Bond, Road, and School taxes.
•Voted 5-0 to approve the claims docket dated July 6, 2021, in the amount of $292K.
•Voted 5-0 to approve the payroll docket dated June 30, 2021, in the amount of
$232.9K.
•Voted 5-0 to approve travel and expenses for the Circuit Clerk to attend the Circuit Clerk’s Convention in July 2021.
•Voted 5-0 to receive the Edit Rolls of Choctaw County for the year 2021 from the Tax Assessor and authorize the President to sign receipt on the Board’s behalf.
•Voted 5-0 to authorize advertisement of an open position of driver in the Solid Waste Department starting at $15.00/hr.
•Voted 5-0 to recognize the training certificates of Heather Wood, Andy Stephenson, and Steve Montgomery as submitted.
•Voted 5-0 to recognize the order of the Chancery Court dealing with the pay of a Court Reporter of Judge Kirk.
•Voted 5-0 to order an inter-fund transfer in the amount of $25K from fund 001 to fund 165.
•Voted 5-0 to approve the Jail Inspection for the month of June.
