Former Nanih Waiya High School standout Mackenzie Johnson was one of nine East Central Community College softball players to earn either MACJC All-State or NJCAA All-Region 23 honors for their accomplishments this past season.
Johnson, who played right field for ECCC led the team in hitting with a .445 batting average and had an impressive on base percentage of .526. Johnson, who went errorless in the field, also drove in 30 runs for the Lady Warriors.
Johnson also was received the Most Valuable Offense Award for the ECCC Lady Warriors, has hand out by head coach Kristin Chaney.
Johnson, along with pitch Mackenzie Rousseau and second baseman, Eva Scott were named first team MACJC All-State. Catcher Cassie Obman, left fielder Shelby Waters, and catcher Tagen Remmel of Clinton were all named second-team all-state.
Landing All-Region 23 honors were shortstop Kayla Beckham of Neshoba Central third baseman Madalyn McMahon of Neshoba Central and Pitcher Kaitlyn Oswalt of Heritage Academy.
The Lady Warriors competed in both the MACJC and Region 23 tournaments and finished the year with a 36-14 mark.
