The Winston County Farmers’ Market is open for business at Louisville Coliseum on Ivy Ave. The Farmers’ Market is an annual event, showcasing the produce of local farmers, which is sponsored by the Coalition for a Healthy Winston County.
The Market is open on Friday afternoons, from 3:30 until 5:30, with vendor setup beginning at 3 p.m. According to Jean Harper, the Market will run until sometime in August. There is no fee required from vendors.
This past Friday was the first day for the 2019 Farmers’ Market, and Harper stated that customers began lining up before the vendors completed their setup. Harper added, “We look forward to being here, because the people are so excited, and that makes our job easy. And just seeing them come and line up before 3:30, and ready. It’s just a blessing to be able to come out and share in this type of setting for Winston County.”
Trey McDill stated that he has shopped at the Farmers’ Market every year that it has been in operation. He said, “It’s hard to beat something that somebody has put their own effort into.”
One of the vendors, Rosie Harris, said of her produce, “I planted it, I enjoyed raising it, and I enjoyed plowing it with my Merry tiller. I had a wonderful time.” Harris stated that she had been a vendor every year, and according to Harper, that is either five or six years.
In addition to fresh produce vendors had available baked goods, lemonade, different flavors of popcorn and more.
