The Webster County Sheriff’s Department made two felony arrests in unrelated cases Saturday.
Deputies responding to a trespassing call received a description of the vehicle and located it on Highway 9 just north of the Bellefontaine community.
The driver was identified as Justin L. Tipton, 34. After a search of the vehicle, items were located in it that are used in the commission of a burglary, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.
Tipton was charged with possession of burglary tools, no driver’s license, and no insurance. He was being held in the Webster County Jail as of Monday awaiting his initial appearance and bond to be set.
Also Saturday, the Webster County K-9 unit conducted a traffic stop on Tomolen Road. The driver was identified as Jeffery L. Chism, 60, of Chism Road.
During a consensual search of the vehicle, a substance believed by the deputy to be methamphetamine was discovered, according to the sheriff’s office.
Chism was charged with possession of methamphetamine, and was awaiting an initial appearance and bond to be set as of Monday.
