Voter registration for the upcoming Mississippi Primary, which takes place on Tuesday, March 10, is currently underway. Voters can register at the Choctaw County Circuit Clerk’s office on weekdays, and the office will be open until noon on Saturday, February 8 to allow voters to register.
Voters may register up through Monday, February 10 and all mail-in registrations must be postmarked by that date, as well. Circuit Clerk Amy Burdine stated that for those who voted in last year’s election their registration should be good for the 2020 elections.
However, if one has not voted in a while it would be wise to call the Circuit Clerk’s office to determine the status of the registration, or visit the Secretary of State’s website at: www.sos.ms.gov/vote.
Burdine added that her office will be open on the two Saturdays before the primary, February 29 and March 7, until noon for absentee voting which is already underway.
March 7 will be the last day to vote in person at the Circuit Clerk’s office, and March 9 is the cut-off for mail-in ballots.
