In a called meeting on Thursday, May 16, the Choctaw County Board of Supervisors heard from Lara Bowman, Executive Director of the Enterprise, concerning the interest of Polo Custom Products in leasing the Hardwire building which was vacated when Hardwire recently moved its operations to Louisville.
Bowman stated that Polo officials have looked at the building and are definitely interested in a two-year lease, with a purchase option if that is possible. The building would initially be used as a warehouse but would eventually be converted to some production.
Polo has requested that the wiring and plumbing be inspected, and any necessary repairs be done, and the office space be cleaned. Polo would be responsible for many of the upgrades.
The Board voted unanimously to authorize Bowman to go forward with the inspections, as it is important to have the building being used.
The Board opened a bid for construction Project #19-1343 which consists of base & pave on various routes in Choctaw County. The project consists of two parts: Part A, Construction of Soil-Cement Base Stabilization and Part B, Construction of DBST Surfacing.
The engineer’s estimate for Part A was $493.7K and for Part B, $231.5K. A bid from Kimes & Stone Construction Co., Inc. of Booneville, MS was the only one submitted, with bids for both parts coming in above estimates. The bid for Part A was $531K and for Part B, $236K. After looking at the figures Crowder recommended that the Board award the bid to Kimes & Stone; the Board voted unanimously to do so.
