The third annual State of Our Community Expo was held this past Thursday evening at the Choctaw Community Center, and according to the Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Donna McKay it was an opportunity for businesses, clubs and organizations to showcase Choctaw County.
Refreshments were served and door prizes were handed out during the event, which was open to the public, as visitors could come and go at their leisure.
The Expo was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, 4 County Electric Power Association, Boral Resources, Kevin Null, Attorney, Southeastern Timber Products, Southern Company, Franklin Telephone Company and North American Coal Red Hills Mine.
McKay stated that each year the Choctaw Chamber of Commerce asks different businesses to be major sponsors of the Expo, as well as the Jack O’Lantern Jam, the First Responders Dinner and more.
Without the support of these businesses these events would not be possible.
Exhibitors at the 2019 Expo included: 4 County Electric Power Assoc., Ackerman 20th Century & Juniorettes, Ackerman Elementary PTO, Broken Wings Ministry, Choctaw Chamber of Commerce, Choctaw County Economic Development District, Choctaw County Library, Choctaw County Democratic Party, Choctaw County Republican Party, Choctaw County Republican Women’s Club, Choctaw County School District, Choctaw Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Choctaw Regional Medical Center, The Enterprise, Friends of the Library, Holmes Community College, Mississippi Lignite Mining Co. – Red Hills Mine, MSU Extension – Choctaw County, National Guard Recruitment, Rescue 100, and Southeastern Products.
McKay stated that she was pleased with the number of visitors and felt that this was the best Expo yet.
