During their first meeting of 2020, on Tuesday January 7, the Ackerman Board of Aldermen dealt with several routine matters, including:
• A 5-0 vote to approve a contract for fire protection between the Town of Ackerman and Choctaw County.
• A 5-0 vote to accept the resignation of Police Officer Justin Livingston effective January 5, and to hire Lee Upchurch as a police officer effective immediately.
• A 5-0 vote to approve travel for Police Chief Tim Cook to NIBRS Training in Pearl, MS on February 6-7.
Mayor Tim Cutts announced a public hearing on January 29 at 10 a.m. concerning the purchase of a dump truck, and a public hearing on February 4 at 5 p.m. concerning Thomas Glasgow Park.
The Town of Ackerman is proposing to change the location of the Tom Glasgow Municipal Park, a Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Grant, to another location at Highway 12 and College Street. The new park will include ballfields and related amenities. The Town of Ackerman Mayor and Board of Aldermen are seeking the general public’s input until 5:00 p.m. on February 4, 2020.
