Gregory Brown, a representative for Polo Custom Products spoke with the Choctaw County Board of Supervisors during their meeting on Monday, December 2. Polo is leasing the old Hardwire building and Brown stated that the company has already done $60K worth of improvements, but discussed concerns about water pressure and heating for the building. Brown stated the goal of keeping pipes from freezing during the winter adding that six gas-fired heaters would cost $32K, and the County for assistance if possible. The County took no action on the matter during the meeting.
The Board received a report that the cost of Workmen’s Comp is coming in at about $1.8K less than last year. The renewal is $67K as opposed to $69.5 for last year. There will be a rate increase for health insurance of $43.The Board voted unanimously to approve both measures.
Ron Bennett presented the Board with a check for $50K to pay dues to The Enterprise, and requested that the Board consider investing an additional $10K for development.
In other action, the Board:
• Voted 5-0 to finance the cost of a fire truck through the Bank of Kilmichael for a five-year term, at an interest rate of 2.59%. The cost of the truck is $230K.
• Voted 5-0 to advertise for bids and keeping of funds.
• Voted 5-0 to receive the Tax Assessor’s Certification.
• Voted 5-0 approve new accounts for the Sheriff-elect Brandon Busby.
• Voted 5-0 to approve advertisement for a driver for Solid Waste.
• Voted 5-0 to receive the Circuit Clerk aging report.
• Voted 5-0 to approve the November jail inspection.
