The East Webster High School band placed first in Class 2A Saturday at the 2019 Mississippi High School Athletic Association/ Mississippi Bandmasters Association State Marching Band Championship.
This is the second consecutive year that the Marching Wolverines won the 2A state championship under the direction of Jesse Yates.
The band also brought home first-place titles in Color Guard, Music Performance and General Effect, as well as second-place finishes in Percussion and Visual Performance. Pearl High School hosted the state marching championship.
On Monday, the Webster County Board of Supervisors voted to recognize the band for its achievement.
The Eupora High School Marching Band was also among the 10 schools competing in Class 2A and placed sixth overall.
