Wednesday, September 11 was the 18th anniversary of a day that has been burned into the memory of this nation. On September 11, 2001 the United States fell victim to vicious attacks in New York City, Washington, DC and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, in which thousands of innocent people died. In addition, hundreds of firefighters, law enforcement officers and emergency medical personnel gave their lives in an effort to help the injured and dying.
In a show of gratitude and honor, all first responders in Winston County were invited to Market Café this past Wednesday morning to share coffee and donuts with members of the Winston County family. This was the third annual event which was sponsored by Market Café, Winston Medical Center, Shelter Insurance and the Winston Partnership.
The breakfast was a time of good fellowship shared by law enforcement, fire services, 9-1-1 personnel, elected officials, business leaders and community members, as well as a time to remember the selfless sacrifices made in 2001, and the dedication with which our emergency personnel serve and protect the community on a daily basis.
