Christopher Edwards, a white male in his early-20s, was placed under arrest this past Tuesday for trying to pass a counterfeit bill in Ackerman. The incident took place about three weeks ago when Edwards, a Starkville resident, attempted to pass a $100 bill at the Ackerman Dollar General. The cashier marked the bill with a detector pen, and according to Ackerman Police Chief, Tim Cook, Edwards left the store immediately.
This past Tuesday, Ackerman PD placed a photo of Edwards, taken from a security camera, on Facebook and within two hours received a call from his family. Edwards was placed under a $1K bond by Justice Court Judge William Stephenson and has bonded out of jail.
