The Ackerman Board of Aldermen met on Tuesday, April 2, for their regularly scheduled meeting which covered several routine issues.
The Board discussed whether or not to move forward with Phase 1 of the Annexation Study being undertaken by Slaughter and Associates; Town Clerk, Debbie Cagle Boley pointed out that the $7K limit to fund Phase 1 had already been reached and urged the Board members to keep that in mind. The Board agreed to take no action until they can meet with Slaughter and Associates personnel for further discussions.
In other action, the Board:
• Voted 5-0 to remove William Westbrook, Brad Vaughn and Mitch Jackson from the Police Roster, and to add Billy Thrasher and Blake Love as part-time officers.
• Voted 5-0 to hire summer workers for the Street Dept.
• Voted 5-0 to approve travel for Police Chief Tim Cook, to the FBI Command College, in Oxford, MS, July 28-August 2.
The Board of Aldermen meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
