A Thursday morning collision in Webster County claimed the life of a Dancy woman.
The two-car accident on Mississippi 15 was reported to Webster 911 at 7:41 a.m. Responding were the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Webster County Sheriff’s Department, Mantee and Cumberland fire departments, and North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora EMS.
MHP Troop G Public Affairs Sgt. Derrick Beckom said 39-year-old Draneka Quantina Ferguson of Starkville was traveling north on the highway in a beige 2013 Chrysler. Beckom said she collided with a gray 2009 Hyundai Sonata attempting to pull out of a private drive to travel south on Mississippi 15.
Beckom identified the driver of the second car as Carol Ann Vaughn Dendy, 63, of Dancy, and confirmed the collision occurred in front of her residence.
Dendy was pronounced dead at the scene by Webster County Coroner Steve Wells. Ferguson was transported by ambulance to NMMC-Eupora with non-life threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by MHP. Funeral services for Dendy were Sunday at Pine Bluff Baptist Church in Mantee with burial in the church cemetery.
