The U.S Department of Agriculture is investing $39,000 in Eupora through two grants.
They are among a series of 11 grants approved by USDA Rural Development to help provide rural Mississippi communities unmet infrastructure, business development and equipment needs.
The grant awards, announced Friday, range in scope from water and waste disposal grants/loans to economic impact initiative grants. Grants were approved for projects in Webster and seven other counties.
“USDA Rural Development is responsible for helping rural counties and small communities provide public services and foster economic growth. Often these investments help fill gaps that are hard to overcome with a rural tax base,” said U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Miss.
“Since taking over Rural Development for Mississippi, state Director John Rounsaville has illustrated strong leadership and made significant progress toward rebuilding our infrastructure and boosting rural business,” Hyde-Smith added.
The city of Eupora has been awarded a Community Facilities Grant for $18,000 and an Economic Impact Initiative Grant for $21,000. Specifics of the local projects were not available as of publication deadline.
