(March 21) I was up about 6 a.m. and came to the kitchen for my regular morning cup of coffee. My view from my window was spectacular! The moon was full and beginning to sink into the western sky just behind the trees. The skinny, leafless limbs were in view just in front of the moon, but not blocking its shiny, golden light.
As I moved from one side of the kitchen to the other my view changed. Sometimes the whole trunk of the tree was blocking my view, which mostly covered the beauty of the moon. As I viewed from other places only the thin, skinny, leafless limbs blocked my view, leaving it shining so bright with only a little obstruction.
What a lesson to be learned about our life and the light of our heavenly father shining on our lives. We obstruct the view by our own changing of attitudes, the positions we take on circumstances and our feelings. Every fleeting moment sometimes changes my attitude; I guess I’m like that tree swaying the wind. It’s really hard to lead a stale life with all the changes going on in our world today. The times I was born in and the times today are like daylight and dark, and it’s really hard to teach old dogs (and old women) new tricks.
I just try to hold on to the most important values of life that I was taught from 1937 on that are lasting and real, and that as trying to live by the Word of God — the most important book in the world. How I thank God for it and what it means to me. I urge this younger generation to hold fast to the Word of God. It can be the stability that you must have in life to keep on going.
We had a wonderful time at Fellowship Church last night at its appreciation supper. It was so good to get out and be there again, and see all of them. Thanks so much for inviting us. They have a wonderful youth program and the children are so precious. They are the future leaders and all need our prayers and direction. Thank you leaders!
The sun is lighting the eastern sky now through the pear tree as I enjoy this cup of coffee, devotional and warmth of the new heater from the bedroom window.
My prayer is that the window of my soul be clear enough for the light of Christ to shine. Now let’s go forth into the beautiful day and be happy and see if we can spread a little sunshine on someone’s path today.
My words to leave you with today are from Ephesians 2:10 — “We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
God made us all and he loves us all, no matter who we are or where we are. Have a great week, until I write again.
