(Feb. 25) My view this morning is one to be applauded. The sun is just about to shine out from a sky of light blue and pale pink after a week of rain and dreariness.
The birds singing called my attention to look out the window — how thankful I did. I would have missed the beauty of the morning.
The Bradford pear limbs stretch up so tall and stately reaching for the sky. All along the bottom limbs the fluffy white blossoms are appearing. How I have enjoyed that Bradford pear. It is getting large now and the shape of it just perfect.
I’m reminded that trees, like people, come in all shapes and sizes and our God made them all to be just as they are. Why are we never satisfied with the way we look, and are always trying to look a different way?
Just across the yard the maple trees are putting forth their bright reddish-pink blossoms, so beautiful. The shape of this tree is altogether different from the maple.
God knows what he is doing. Why do we sometimes think we know more than him? Are you ever guilty of that? Sometimes I am, then I realize what a fool I am to think I know so much.
It’s been a long winter, but spring is almost here. I’ve prayed we would make it on through, and we have been blessed beyond measure.
I was so saddened by the passing of my good friend Eleanor Littlejohn Clark. We all grew up here visiting back and forth across the hills to each other’s house. We both got married the same day and year, and we talked about twice a week, especially the last couple years. I sure am already missing talking to her.
We are still so thrilled to have Bro. Martin Jacks preaching for us first and third Sunday of each month (at Bluff Springs Baptist Church), and looking forward to our memorial and a revival in June. It’s been so long since we had one.
Our children are still coming back and forth taking good care of us and calling every day. We are so blessed and thank God for them and the good friends that come by and check on us, and are there when we need them.
We don’t get out much since we are both on walkers and canes, but enjoy it when we do. To church and the new dollar store every now and then, and to doctor appointments when necessary. We are so looking forward to spring — flowers on the porch and rocking. Isn’t that what you are supposed to do when you get old?
Well the sun is up. The cat just came in and Bill is still sleeping. I’ve been reading and working on my “little” quilt a little bit, and now it’s time to see if I can get some breakfast.
I hope all are well and counting your blessings. You can’t be happy any other way!
God bless you all and my Scripture is Psalms 104:24 —“How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all. The earth is full of your creatures.”
