5 seats contested in Webster County elections

Of the five seats being contested this year in Webster County elections, three will be decided in primaries and two in the general election.

The qualifying window ended Feb. 1 for 2023 elections. Party primaries are set for Aug. 8, runoffs for Aug. 29 and the general election will be Nov. 7.

Who’s running for state, district offices in 2023?

As you have probably heard by now, Mississippi is holding statewide elections this year. Candidates had until Feb. 1 to qualify with their political party of choice or as an Independent.

The Republican and Democratic primary elections will be held on Aug. 8. The general election is slated for Nov. 7.

Democratic and Republican candidates face off, primaries set

Many candidates are preparing to hit the ground running with signs, attending political rallies and meeting as many people as they can to prove they are the best candidate for the job.

Several Winston County races will be decided in the democratic primary and a few candidates squeak out with no opposition and retain their seats.
