Four Grenada County juveniles face charges in connection with auto burglaries and an auto theft committed in northwest Webster County earlier this month.
Five vehicle burglaries and an auto theft were committed during the predawn hours Sept. 18 on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive near the Bluff Springs community, according to Webster County Sheriff David Gore. No houses were burglarized, but three firearms and some small items were taken in addition to the vehicle that was stolen, he said.
Four juveniles from Grenada County ranging in age from 15 to 17 were arrested the night of Sept. 20 or early Sept. 21 in connection with the crimes in Webster, according to Gore. He said they were apprehended in the vehicle stolen from MLK following a chase that led from Grenada to Greenwood and back to Carrollton, where it ended. Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in the pursuit.
Gore said their arrests came after an investigation by Webster County Sheriff’s Office working in conjunction with Grenada County Sheriff’s Office, “as Grenada County suffered quite a few burglaries with the same MO.”
Grenada County had two vehicles stolen along with various small items, he said. One of the Grenada County stolen vehicles has been recovered by Webster SO, having been abandoned on MLK at Center Road the same morning as the crimes. The stolen vehicle and one firearm from the MLK Jr. Drive burglaries have been recovered by Grenada SO.
The investigation is continuing and more charges are expected. Gore said an adult also faces charges in connection with the Grenada County crimes.
"Webster SO would like to thank Grenada SO and the individuals in Webster County that have helped us solve these burglaries," Gore stated.
