The Webster County Sheriff’s Department has charged a Eupora woman with committing multiple auto burglaries, among other crimes.
Justice Court affidavits filed by Sgt. Brandon Chaille and Chief Deputy JC Smith show Courtney Harrison has been charged with four counts of auto burglary, one count of burglary – breaking and entering a dwelling house, one count of receiving stolen property, one count of trespassing and one count of petit larceny.
Harrison, 34, of South Dunn, was arrested Aug. 30 and released from the county jail Sept. 1 on $25,000 bond. On Sept. 8, Justice Court Judge Rebecca Ellison appointed attorney Stephanie Mallette to represent Harrison and continued her case until Nov. 3.
Harrison is accused of breaking into three vehicles at the same residence in the 400 block of Cummings Road on Aug. 10 and another on Figgatt Avenue in Eupora on Aug. 30.
She is also charged with breaking into a house with the intent to steal a DVD player and a pellet rifle and trespassing upon property at another residence, both on Aug. 30 in the 4000 block of MS Highway 9.
The charges of petit larceny and receiving stolen property allege that on Aug. 20, Harrison stole a dual bevel saw from the 2500 block of West Roane Avenue and sold it to another person.
Smith said late last week that two or three other break-ins are under investigation which may be related to the aforementioned. He confirmed that one of those occurred last month at Harmony Free Will Baptist Church on Highway 9 North. Nothing was stolen but Smith said items of value had been stacked up inside as if they were going to be removed.
Additionally, Smith said a 19-year-old male is being investigated in connection with at least one of those break-ins. The same man was arrested Aug. 29 by the Eupora Police Department on a warrant for contempt of court and served seven days in jail.
