The theft of all four tires and wheels from a vehicle parked at a Eupora residence remains under investigation.
Webster 911 reports show the theft was reported about 7:30 a.m. Feb. 14 from a residence on Whites Creek Lake Circle.
Police Chief Lawrence Caradine said the tires and wheels were stolen the night before from a Honda Accord. He said footage from a surveillance camera at the residence did not show anything to help in the investigation and the Eupora Police Department had no leads as of Feb. 15.
Thefts of tires and wheels have also occurred in Grenada, Yalobusha, Carroll, Calhoun and Tallahatchie counties, all apparently related, according to Caradine. The EPD shared this public announcement on social media after the local theft was reported:
“It has come to our attention that there have been incidents of theft involving wheels and tires from Honda Accords and Nissan Altimas in our community and surrounding areas. We urge all residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement immediately.
“These thefts not only cause financial burden to the victims but also disrupt the peace and security of our neighborhoods. We encourage everyone to take proactive measures to protect their vehicles by parking in well-lit areas, utilizing security devices and staying aware of their surroundings.
“Additionally, we ask for your assistance in spreading awareness and helping to prevent further occurrences of such criminal activity. Together, we can work towards ensuring the safety and security of our community.”
