A strong line of severe thunderstorms passed through the Eupora area with heavy wind gusts the night of April 3.
Shortly before 9 p.m., those wind gusts caused a large tree to fall on a duplex at 1387 Adams Ave. with people trapped inside.
The Eupora Fire Department, along with Walthall FD, Eupora Police Department, Eupora EMS and Natchez Trace Electric Power Association rushed to assist trapped victims.
Once electrical lines were turned off by Natchez Trace, Walthall FD Ladder 6 was used to assist and extract patients from the second floor of the apartment building through a window.
The two occupants did sustain minor injuries and were transported to NMMC-Eupora in private vehicles, according to Eupora Fire. Broadcast reports identified them as Abraham Carr and his fiancée, Lashauna Hamilton.
EFD thanked the other responding agencies “for their hard work and well-coordinated assistance.”
Webster 911 reports show at least six storm-related calls in the county during an 8?-hour period April 3 and 4, including trees in the roadway and an accident involving a vehicle hitting a downed tree on the Natchez Trace Parkway.
