During a special called meeting of the Ackerman Board of Aldermen, on Friday, August 13, Public Works Director, Ben Chambers, resigned from the position that he had held since June 2020, with the resignation being effective at the end of the month.
In other action, Mayor Dale Reid reported that the Town has been awarded a $200K grant from the State of Mississippi which will be used for sidewalk improvements and upgrades along Main Street.
This grant requires no matching funds from the Town. Reid stated that the funds will be available in December with work to begin possibly in January.
He added that the Board of Aldermen will be kept abreast of all planning details as the project moves forward.
