Sales tax revenue numbers that reflect January sales are in from the Mississippi Department of Revenue for local municipalities.
MDR collects 81.5% of the 7% sales tax from municipalities and distributes the remaining 18.5% back to the municipalities over a three-month cycle.
These figures reflect municipal sales taxes collected on January sales with the previous year’s figures in parentheses, followed by fiscal year-to-date collections (since July 1) and the previous year’s YTD figures in parentheses:
