Webster County’s unemployment rate decreased four-tenths of a percentage point during February, according to preliminary data from the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.
The jobless rate here was 2.7% in February, compared to 3.1% in January and 3.2% in February 2023. The 12-month moving average is 2.9%.
The number of unemployed Webster Countians in February decreased by 20 to an estimated 100. The labor force, the number of qualified employees working or seeking to work, increased by 50 to an estimated 3,830.
February jobless rates in adjoining counties: Calhoun, 2.7%; Chickasaw, 3.3%; Choctaw, 2.6%; Clay, 3%; Grenada, 2.9%; Montgomery, 3.1%; and Oktibbeha, 2.9%.
The state’s not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for February was 2.8% and the national rate was 4.2%.
