Friday at the Maben Public Library we read a story titled "My Five Senses" written by Margaret Miller. The children had a fun time learning about their senses.
We talked about sight, looking in the mirror and seeing their shadow, smell, smelling popcorn and a horse, flower or garbage, taste, tasting watermelon, the ocean, medicine or ice cream, sound, baby crying, fire truck, piano or a secret, feel, some fingerpaint, sand, water or a rabbit.
So to emphasize sight, we played a game where one child is blindfolded and the other is an animal. The child finds the other by the animal sound they make. Then we had a picture with eyes drawn on it and they had to draw the rest of the five senses.
We also did some painting with strawberry, grape and blackberry Jell-O and ate some grape Jell-O. After that we played with Play-Doh for a little while.
Friday we had Tyler Kay Bates, Stella and Skyler Smith, Magnolia, Miller, and Maverick Turner, and Barrett Willers.
