Five classes from East Webster Elementary in Mathison attended MSU’s Wood Magic Science Fair, which ran from Sept. 18-22.
Third grade teachers were Jennifer Brock, Kinsey Hitt and Courtney Kirkman and fourth grade teachers were Bridgette Hodges and Rebecca Plunkett.
The fair, celebrating its 30th year, educates the next generation about forest products.
Approximately 4,000 third- and fourth-graders from across the state were on campus to learn about forestry and the importance of forest products. Students were taught that wood is renewable, recyclable, biodegradable and durable in an exciting and engaging format.
The Wood Magic Science Fair was hosted by the Department of Sustainable Bioproducts, College of Forest Resources and sponsored by the Mississippi Forestry Association; the Mississippi Lumber Manufacturers Association; the Sustainable Forestry Initiative; Viance LLC and the Forest and Wildlife Research Center.
