Winston County Head Start and Early Head Start, Friends of Children of Mississippi, Inc. held its head start awareness program on Friday, Oct. 27 at 9:30 a.m.
Arlena Riley, Quality Assurance Area Manager and Dr. Cathy Gaston, Executive Director, spoke on the mission statement and history of Friends of Children of Mississippi, Inc.
The speakers for the event were District 42 Representative Carl Mickens and District 32 Senator Rod Hickman. Chiquita Holmes, Ed Hunt, and Natasha Walker, former students of the Winston County Head Start spoke of their experience and how it has impacted them.
After the program, attendees were given a tour of the center and refreshments were served.
Head Start services are available to any eligible child from birth to five years of age. The programs help prepare children to succeed in school and in life through learning experiences tailored to their changing needs and abilities.
