The city of Eupora has lifted a boil-water alert it issued late last week for some of its customers.
Guy Barnett, the city's certified water operator, issued the alert April 25 for all customers located south of Roane Avenue/Highway 182. The notice was lifted Tuesday afternoon after the city was notified that tests showed the water was safe to drink.
The city issued the alert because of a loss of water pressure. Public Works Director Odie Avery, in Facebook Live videos, said a burst in the overall pressure on April 24 ruptured old lines in the water system.
According to Avery, five leaks occurred: two on Dunn Street, one on Meadowlane, one on Dunlap and a large leak on Naron Avenue. He said additional crews from the town of Mathiston and 4-D Construction assisted the city in patching the lines.
