In a bid to foster community growth and collaboration, the Choctaw County Friends of the Library will host a general meeting on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 6 p.m. at the Choctaw County Library.
The program will feature Amanda McBride, Director of Choctaw County Partnership and Randy Loper, Economic Development Director for Choctaw County.
Topics will include:
Workforce Development: Ms. McBride and Mr. Loper will share how they are exploring collaborative opportunities to connect local businesses with potential talent. One of the key areas of discussion will revolve around the role of libraries in supporting workforce development.
Small Business Support: They will also emphasize their dedication to supporting small businesses within the community.

New Projects and Programs: Ms. McBride and Mr. Loper will also provide exciting information about new projects and programs that are in the works for Choctaw County.
The meeting will be a constructive dialogue with members of the Friends of the Library organization, focusing on the intersection of economic development and community resources. The Friends of the Library, an enthusiastic group of advocates and supporters of the County’s public libraries, has been at the forefront of various initiatives aimed at enhancing access to educational resources and promoting literacy within the community. The Choctaw County Partnership and the Economic Development Office on the other hand, have been driving local economic growth and development through its diverse range of programs and partnerships. This unique meeting of minds will bring together representatives from all three organizations to explore the opportunities for teamwork between economic development efforts and community resources.
Charlotte Taylor, Friends of the Library board president stated, “We believe that the library can be a powerful tool for economic development, and we look forward to this meeting to find innovative ways to support local businesses and entrepreneurs."
The community is invited to attend this important meeting. Light refreshments will be served.
