When the Louisville Board of Aldermen met on Tuesday, April 16, they learned that many of the capital projects in the works for several years are about to come to completion. Mayor Will Hill brought forward multiple action items that were to be paid in order to further, and, in some instances, complete projects that the city has been working on for several years.
There was no airport report and so no action needed at this time. However, the mayor did note that the TAP project, which has been utilized to upgrade several sidewalks in the city, including that around the Dome, were coming to completion. The mayor brought about an action item so that he could be authorized to sign a closeout agreement. This was approved unanimously.
Next, the mayor followed up on last month’s informational presentation from Neel Schaffer. The mayor asked for authorization to pay for work completed in February in regards to the South Industrial Road. The board also authorized a payment to Phillips Contracting for clearing and grubbing. The mayor expanded that this has to do with removal of trees and brush as well as any debris from the construction project.
Further updates included work on the Rail Park. The mayor anticipates new street signage to be delivered within the coming days. The Rail Park has chiefly been funded with a SAAW grant, and another authorization to pay Phillips Contracting for clearing and grubbing at that site was approved.
Hill also noted that the Activity Building had also been improved in the matter of its HVAC system and some electrical work. He asked the board to authorize him to pay Burdine Heating and Cooling as well as Gilmer Electric for the work done. This was also approved unanimously.
There was no update on the Strand Theater at the time of the Tuesday meeting.
At the end of the meeting, the board honored city E911 employees with a proclamation noting Telecommunications (Professionals) Week, April 14 – 20, 2024. All members of the board signed the proclamation.
