It’s a busy week on the baseball and softball diamonds for Noxapater this week.
After hosting West Lowndes on Monday the baseball team was set to entertain Nanih Waiya on Tuesday and visit the Warriors on Friday before hosting Lake on Saturday.
The Noxapater softball team was set to host West Lowndes on Monday, before closing out the week with three consecutive road games, visiting French Camp on Tuesday, West Lowndes on Thursday, and Ethel on Friday.
BASEBALL
French Camp broke a scoreless tie with seven runs in the bottom of the third inning and then stretched that out for an 11-1 run-rule win on Tuesday. It was the only game played by the Tigers last week.
Lane Bailey had a pair of singles for the Tigers in the game, wile Ethan Jones had a hit and an RBI and Kyle Phillips also singled. Caleb Ellingburg scored a run for Noxapater.
SOFTBALL
Union’s eight-run second inning was more than the Lady Tigers could overcome last Tuesday, as Noxapater dropped an 18-2 decision in its only fast-pitch softball game of the week.
Caroline Swindle and Marly Joiner each had hits for the Lady Tigers, while Nona Wilkes drove in a pair of runs.
Union had eight hits in the game, but it was the eight Noxapater errors that opened the floodgates for the Yellowjackets.
