Weather permitting, the Lady Tigers of Noxapater have a busy week scheduled on the softball diamond.
After dropping a 14-10 decision to Starkville on Monday, they were set to host West Lowndes on Tuesday and visit French Camp on Thursday before playing host to West Point on Friday. Noxapater was then set to cap off the week at the Sebastopol Tournament on Saturday.
After falling behind Starkville 5-0 after two innings on Monday, the Lady Tigers fought back to go ahead 9-8 thanks to four runs in the top of the fifth inning. Starkville responded with four in the bottom of the inning and two more in the sixth to take the four-run win.
The Lady Tigers out-hit Starkville 11-8 in the contest, with Nona Wilkes and Kelli Thomas cracking out three hits apiece and Caroline Swindle delivering a double and a single. Marley Joiner had two hits and three RBIs, while Kaliyah Moore also picked up a hit.
Wilkes scored three runs for Noxapater, while Swindle and Thomas each crossed the plate twice and Wilkes and Swindle also had RBIs.
A 13-run second inning was too much for Noxapater to overcome last Friday in a 20-0 loss to Nanih Waiya. Swindle had the lone hit for the Lady Tigers in the contest.
