At the December 3, 2024 meeting of the City of Louisville Board of Aldermen, Director of Public Safety Chris Young was recognized by the board for a recent accomplishment. Young earned his certification in Emergency Manager 2 and 3 as well as a certification in Master Emergency Manager.
Young noted the requirements of the certification and remarked that it took him at least five years to earn the hours necessary
Also in attendance at the meeting were Mike Forster from the Airport Board, Glen Haab of the Winston County Economic Development Partnership, and Beth Edwards of the Winston County Library.
Edwards presented a powerpoint presentation documenting all the activities of the library over the summer months. She thanked the aldermen and mayor for their continued support.
A representative of Neel Schaffer was on hand to present an update on capital projects. The board would hear the update and approve payments for services rendered. The mayor asked Haab to weigh in on the importance of these projects, particularly the railpark. Haab noted that the railpark was an important asset to the county as a whole and should be developed.
In other business, the City of Louisville Board of Aldermen:
- Approved the docket of claims
- Approved the minutes of the previous meeting
- Appointed Shiela Hickman to the Housing Board
- Accepting the retirement of Patricia Coleman at E911
- Authorized the city clerk to sign agreements with BBI for 2025 maintenance of Software and Hardware, approved payments for these services
The City of Louisville’s Board of Aldermen meets twice monthly at the city hall. In December, the aldermen will only meet once. Meetings resume in January on the first and third Tuesday of the month.
