Louisville was back into district baseball action last week with the Wildcats taking a couple of losses on the chin.
Kosciusko was the challenge for Dalton Luke’s team as LHS dropped both games against the Whippets. Game one saw the Wildcats only surrender five hits, but nine walks and three errors would come back to haunt them in a 12-0 loss in just four innings.
Josh Ammons started the game and gave up just three hits but six runs and four walks. Kaydon White tried his best to come in and stop the bleeding in the fourth but gave up six unearned runs with five walks and two hits. It would be an eight-run fourth inning that would end things.
Kayleb White had the Wildcats’ only hit in the loss.
While a couple of more hits came the Wildcats’ way on Friday night, it didn’t get much better. LHS was outhit 11-4 and recorded four more errors as Kosciusko swept the series with an 18-0 win in three innings. The Whippets scored seven runs in the second and nine in the third to get the run-rule.
Ammons had a 2-for-2 day but the rest of the team combined for two hits and one walk.
Mitchell Turner started the game on the mound and lasted just 2.0 innings while giving up seven hits, 13 runs and five walks. He did strikeout all six outs he got.
LHS (4-12, 0-3 Class 4A, Region 3) played Houston on the road on Tuesday and will welcome the Hilltoppers to Louisville on Friday at 7 pm. They will head to Morton for a matchup with the Panthers at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Louisville is beginning to find its footing on the baseball diamond, even in defeat.
The Wildcats won three-straight games over the last week and a half before dropping a game to Choctaw County last Saturday. Though it was a tough outcome, coach Dalton Luke’s team put forth the effort and was in position late in the ball game before coming up just short.
The Chargers bookended big innings to sneak away with the win as they scored five runs in the first inning and five more in the seventh on the way to a 15-10 victory. At one point, CCHS led 10-3 in the ball game after another five runs in the fifth before the Wildcats exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie things up at 10-10. CCHS was able to get the best of the Wildcats in the final frame with a third five-run inning and it handed LHS a loss.
It was an 11-hit game for the Wildcats as they outhit the Chargers 11-10, but three errors and 11 walks prevented them from finding a way to win. LHS did strike out 10 batters but it wouldn’t be enough to overcome the free bases and miscues in the field.
Mitchell Turner led the team at the plate as he finished 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI. Josh Ammons, Braydon Rogers and Jaylan Crosby all had two hits each and Jaedon Hughes had a hit and drove in three runs. Kaydon White and Tyler Glenn walked twice as well.
LHS (4-10, 0-2 Class 4A, Region 3) had a two-game set against district rival Kosciusko set for this week. The Wildcats played the Whippets on the road on Tuesday night and will be at home against them on Friday night before traveling to Choctaw County for a rematch on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Wildcats will be back in district action next week with a road game at Houston on Tuesday and then will welcome the Hilltoppers on Friday.
