With playoff implications on the line last week, the Wildcats of Louisville had a chance to all but wrap up a spot but came up short against Choctaw Central.
LHS had a tough showing in the two games against the Warriors. The team dropped the first game 16-1 on the road and came back home with a better showing on Thursday, but still short of the mark at 7-3.
After the blowout loss, LHS battled in game two. The team gave up two runs each in the first and second innings before scoring two in the fourth to tighten the game up at 4-2. Choctaw Central was bale to extend it out to 7-2 in the seventh and LHS got a run back in the bottom of the frame but ran out of outs in the loss.
With the loss, the Wildcats are now 6-10 on the year with a 3-6 mark in Class 4A, Region 4. That has them tied with Northeast Lauderdale and sets up an important week ahead. Both teams have a makeup game to play this week as Northeast hosts Leake Central on Wednesday and the Wildcats are slated to play West Lauderdale on Thursday.
LHS will also play on Saturday at home against Winona at 1 p.m.
