Wesley United Methodist Church, located at 118 Jones Avenue Louisville, MS, would like to take this opportunity to welcome and introduce to the community Rev. Mary Willis as the new pastor.
For the 2021-2022 clergy appointment, the Mississippi Annual United Methodist Conference under the Jurisdictional leadership of Bishop James Swanson Sr. and the Starkville District Mississippi United Methodist Conference under the supervision of District Superintendent Rev. Paulette Buford-James appointed Pastor Willis to pastor and lead the Wesley United Methodist Church.
Rev. Mary Willis is a native of Grenada, MS. She accepted her call in the Ministry in 2000. In 2011, she attended MTSO (Methodist Technological School in Ohio), in which she received Master of Divinity and Master’s in counseling.
Pastor Willis completed her graduate studies at MTSO in 2016. She returned to Mississippi, and from 2016-2018, she served as the senior pastor of both Good Hope UMC in Carrollton, MS., and Poplar Springs UMC in Durant, MS. Rev. Willis moved to Greenwood, MS, in 2018 and became the senior pastor of Decell UMC. Pastor
Willis also enjoys helping those in need, especially the senior citizens and youth. She believes the children are the leaders of today, and all must “meet them at their needs.” Pastor Willis also believes that all are responsible for the senior citizens and the neighborhoods within the church’s vicinity. “We are our brother’s keeper.” She is a firm believer in outreach programs and that they are vital to the survival of the communities.
Pastor Willis’ first Sunday in the pulpit will be the July 4, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., with Sunday School beginning at 9:00 a.m. Come and worship with the Wesley United Methodist Church in Louisville as the Woman of God continues her Spiritual journey in Winston County.
