The Webster County School Board approved the hirings and resignations of various personnel, among other business, during a previous meeting.
Superintendent James Mason informed the board that Eupora High School was responsible for selecting the Webster County Board of Education Student of the Month for April. Principal Chip Powell introduced Ansley Mason as Student of the Month.
Mason reminded the board members that they are required to file a statement of economic interest with the state ethics commission by May 1. No action was taken.
Consent Agenda
Upon Mason’s recommendation, the board approved these items as a part of the Consent Agenda on April 29:
• Approved the minutes of the regular meeting held on April 8.
• Approved board meeting dates and public hearing date (5 p.m. July 17) for 2024-25.
• Approved a depository bid from Bank of Kilmichael for FY25-28.
• Approved WCSD Career Coach memorandum of understanding for 2024-25.
• Approved a request to apply for a school nurse grant.
• Approved the resignations of Jesse Yates, East Webster High School band director, effective June 30.
• Approved the resignations of Leigh Johnson and Gina Reed-Wood, Eupora Elementary Schools teachers, effective June 30.
• Approved certified staff recommendations for 2024-25.
• Approved the hiring of Elizabeth Wylie as a teacher at EHS, effective July 1, pending background check.
• Approved non-certified staff recommendations for 2024-25.
• Approved administrators salaries for 2024-25.
•Approved non-certified salaries and prorated salaries for 2024-25.
• Approved the hiring of Garett Crimm as technology technician, effective April 30.
• Approved the transfer of Stacy Hyer to MSIS clerk at EHS, effective July 1.
• Approved bus drivers for the 2024-25 school year.
• Approved bus routes for 2024-25.
• Approved a bus driver pay adjustment for Darleen Busby for 2023-24.
• Approved the hire of Callie May Massey as a substitute teacher, effective April 30, pending background check.
• Approved student releases for children of county residents who are employed in other school districts.
• Approved a fundraiser for East Webster Elementary School.
Approved the 2024-25 Teacher Salary Scale.
Other Business
In separate motions, the board:
• Approved Powell’s recommendation to hire John Dunnam as a teacher at EHS, pending graduation and receipt of licensure, effective July 1.
• Accepted the resignation of bus driver Shedrick Shaw, effective April 30.
• Approved the financial report for February.
• approved the second docket of claims for March/April.
Board members present April 29 were President Marilynn Brown of District 4; Jimmy Hood of District 3 and Gabby Davis of District 5. The board adjourned until May 14 and the next meeting is at 6 p.m. June 10.
