The Noxapater Tigers had five lifters qualify for the Class 1A state tournament.
Senior Bentley Triplett set a Class 1A state record in squat and finished second in the 198-pound weight class last week.
The Tigers finished fourth overall in Class 1A with 16 points while Tupelo Christian won Class 1A with 47 points.
In the 132-pound weight class Quintavious Stephens finished third with a total of 825 pounds. The sophomore had a 310-pound squat, a 160-pound bench press and a 355-pound dead lift.
In the 198-pound weight class, Bentley Triplett finished second with a 1,360-pound total, just five pounds out of first place. Triplett had a 530-pound squat — a Class 1A record for the weight class — a 280-pound bench press and a 550-pound dead lift which was also the top for the class.
Also in the 198-pound weight class, J.J. Miller scratched after not being able to record a squat. He had a 205-pound bench press and a 445-pound dead lift.
In the 242-pound weight class, Demarkus McCully finished second with a 1,380-pound total. The senior had a 540-pound squat, a 290-pound bench press and a 550-pound dead lift.
In the 275-pound weight class, T.K. Wilson finished third with a total of 1,255 pounds. Wilson had a 500-pound squat, a 250-pound bench press and a 505-pound dead lift.
Noxapater girls
The Lady Tigers four females qualify for the Class 1A state powerlifting meet with one lifter bring home a state championship.
In the 198-pound weight class, Zylah Stricklin came home with the state championship with a total lift of 790 pounds. The freshman had a 285-pound squat, a 155-pound bench press and a 350-pound dead lift.
In the 105-pound weight class, Tyaisha Carter finished fourth with a total of 475 pounds. The sophomore had a 185-pound squat, an 80-pound bench press and a 210-pound dead lift.
In the 181-pound weight class, Jamesha Miller finished fifth with a total of 560 pounds. The junior had a 185-pound squat, a 100-pound bench press and a 275-pound dead lift.
In the 220-pound weight class, Markasia McCully finished second with a total lift of 675 pounds. The sophomore had 275-pound squat, a 100-pound bench press and a dead lift of 300 pounds.
