Diabetes Awareness Fair held in Maben

The Controllers 4- H Clubs, in conjunction with the OCH Regional Medical Center, Mayor's Health Council and the Maben's Lion's Club, hosted Maben's first Diabetes Awareness Fair at 9 a.m. Nov. 21 in W.O. Shivers Park. Mayor Larry Pruitt cut the ribbon followed by a prayer by Jimmie Ferguson, 4-H volunteer.

New Century Club honors the VFW Post 3806 as part of Veterans Day

The Eupora New Century Club expressed its appreciation to Post 3806 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary members in celebration of national Veterans Day. Eupora Elementary School students joined with club members by writing letters and drawing pictures to show their love and respect to the 109 members of Post 3806.

Club awards Yard of the Month

The Maben Garden Club Yard of the Month for June 2020 has been awarded to Dennis and Lana Reed, 3484 Bland Road in the Cumberland community near the water tower. The plantings in front of the home are sculpted into a drum shape, and potted ferns and other colorful flowers are in the display of plants on the porch and near the driveway.

4-H clubs honor hometown heroes

The Controllers 4-H clubs honored Maben Police Department for National Police Week as hometown heroes. A small ceremony was conducted on May 11, then presentations were made to Officer William Ford and Officer Perry Yates. Officer Charlie Miller was not present. The club will make this an annual recognition event.
