Bailey wins House D23 runoff

Perry Bailey of Calhoun City has been declared the winner of the special general runoff election to represent District 23 in the Mississippi House of Representatives.

The results of the Jan. 31 runoff were too close to close to call until affidavit and outstanding absentee ballots were reviewed last week.

Walthall Fire Department receives new pumper truck

The Walthall Fire Department took receipt of a new pumper truck this week.

Fire Chief Chris Dickerson said the new truck arrived Tuesday. The Webster County Board of Supervisors voted Jan. 3 to purchase the 2,500-gallon tanker pumper from Deep South Fire Trucks of Seminary.

Educator Prep students present MTFC program

Teresa Whitaker, Educator Preparation instructor at Webster County Career and Technical Center, brought students Brody Smith and Emma McHann to the third quarterly meeting of the Mississippi Tobacco Free Coalition of Choctaw, Webster and Montgomery counties.

The two Educator Prep students delivered the program at the Feb. 3 meeting.
