Patterson to resign from Friends of Dean Park

After 13 years of helping lead a group she helped form, Elmetra Patterson is stepping down from the Friends of Dean Park, Inc (FODP).

Patterson turned in her resignation in May of 2021 after helping setup the group in May of 2008. Her resignation will be formally completed when the Friends of Dean Park meet June 12 at Dean Park.

County’s unemployment rate decreases

Webster County’s unemployment rate went down three-tenths of a percentage point during April, according to preliminary numbers from the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.

Webster County’s rate stood at 5.7% during April, down from 6% in March. Unemployment stood at 12.8% in April 2020

Grand jury issues report

County reports 2 new virus cases of COVID-19

The Mississippi State Department of Health reported 1,150 COVID-19 cases to date in Webster County as of Sunday.

That total represents two new cases over the past week. The number of local coronavirus-related deaths stands at 32. Long-term care facility numbers to date also remain the same: 61 cases among residents and 12 deaths.
