Monthly sales tax collections released

Sales tax revenue numbers that reflect April sales are in from the Mississippi Department of Revenue for local municipalities.

MDR collects 81.5 percent of the 7 percent sales tax from municipalities and distributes the remaining 18.5 percent back to the municipalities over a three-month cycle.

Circuit Court Judgements handed down

The April term of the Winston County Circuit Clerk handed down several judgments with a lengthy docket.

Sentences handed down by the court were:

JASMINE R. NELSON who was sentenced on FURNISHING CONTRABAND IN FACILITY received 3years with all 3 years suspended as 3 year’s probation.

Lagrange boil-water alert lifted

A boil-water alert that had been issued for Eupora water customers within Choctaw County has been lifted.

The city of Eupora issued the notice June 5 for customers who receive their drinking water from their water supply located in Choctaw County, which is the LaGrange water system.
