Mathiston 5K benefits St. Jude

Teamchasebailey77 will be hosting a 1-mile and 5K color run/walk on Oct. 8 at Mathiston Park.

The fundraiser is in memory of Chase Bailey and in honor of Collins Chrismond and Griffen McCarter of Webster County. All proceeds will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

State champion football teams of Ackerman, Weir to be honored Oct. 7

The citizens of Choctaw County will have an opportunity to collectively honor the past MHSAA state championship football teams of Ackerman High School and Weir High School next month.

The honor will take place before the Choctaw County Chargers vs. East Webster football game on Friday, October 7 at Dale Davidson Field in Ackerman.

Qualifying closes for November races in Choctaw County

The November 8 election ballot for Choctaw County will encompass races for Choctaw County School Board District 1 and District 2 posts, currently held respectively by Rebecca Curtis Orr and Clint Huffman. The qualifying period for elected school board posts within the county began Wednesday, August 10 and closed at 5 p.m. on September 9.
