Choctaw County registers 1 death from COVID-19

The Mississippi State Department of Health has reported the first death from the novel (new) coronavirus COVID-19 in Choctaw County.

MSDH said a Choctaw resident died with 59 deaths in the state as of April 6 at 6 p.m. with the April 7 reporting at 11 a.m.

Choctaw County had 9 identified cases in the county on Monday.

State School Board suspends key policies for every district (Winston)

Louisville Municipal School District implemented the new policies of the Mississippi State Board of Education on March 27.

Superintendent Randy Grierson noted that the graduation and proms are postponed, not cancelled. “We will have a Graduation Ceremony for our students at some point,”stated Grierson in a message to the community.

Webster County man dies from COVID-19

The Mississippi State Department of Health has reported the first death from the novel (new) coronavirus COVID-19 in Webster County.

MSDH said March 25 a Webster County man age 65-70 with underlying health conditions died while in hospitalization. His death marked the third from COVID-19 in Mississippi as of that date.
