Noxapater, Nanih Waiya powerlifters advance to South State

Noxapater boys and girls and Nanih Waiya boys participated in region powerlifting meets last week at McAdams and will participate in South State meets this week. Nanih Waiya does not have a girl’s team.

Region 3-1A boys scores were McAdams 66, Ethel 44, Leake County 33, Noxapater 16 and Nanih Waiya 12.

Warriors upset West Lowndes; host playoffs Friday

MCADAMS –Nanih Waiya's best game of the season resulted in home court for the opening round of the MHSAA Class 1A state playoffs. The Warriors upset top seed West Lowndes 67-66 in the semifinals of the Region 5-1A tournament before losing to McAdams 70-44 in the championship game.

Plan has only four teams making Region 5-1A hoops tourney

A tentative plan for the Region 5-1A basketball tournament includes participation by only the top four boys and girls teams.

“Everything is tentative right now. We have to talk to the Mississippi High School Activities Association,” said Kenyon Ross, McAdams athletic director and boys coach.
