At this time last year, Jeff Roberts was defensive coordinator for Water Valley and the Blue Devils were on their way to the MHSAA Class 3A state championship. He will face his former team as head coach of Choctaw County Friday when the Chargers meet Water Valley in the second round of the MHSAA playoffs.

A sensational performance by French Camp junior quarterback C.J. Johnson in a 45-20 victory over Vardaman on Nov. 1 was rewarded when he was chosen as Mississippi’s Athlete of the Week by The Clarion-Ledger. Johnson carried 18 times for 331 yards and four touchdowns and completed three passes for 75 yards and one TD.

Panthers fall short in season finale
