Choctaw County boys, girls finish third in region meet

WINONA – Choctaw County boys and girls track both finished third out of nine teams at the Region 2-3A meet at Winona High School. The host team won both.

For the boys it was Winona 255.5, Noxubee County 132.5, Choctaw County 93.5, Humphreys County 36, Ruleville 35, Hatley 29, Coahoma Early College 26.5, Aberdeen 19 and Amanda Elzy 13.

Strong team season closes out for FCA tennis

TUPELO – The French Camp tennis season ended with a 7-0 loss to a talented Tupelo Christian team in the opening round of the MHSAA Class I playoffs for 1A and 2A schools.

“We had a really good season,” said coach Larry Mincher. “Great bunch of kids. I really enjoyed working with them.”

Choctaw County remains undefeated in region baseball play

An incredible rally and a strong pitching performance enabled Choctaw County baseball to remain unbeaten in Region 4-3A play with two victories over Hatley last week.

In the first game, the Chargers trailed 5-1 entering the bottom of the seventh. “We didn't have much going offensively all game,” said coach Justin Flake.
