The autumnal equinox occurs at exactly 2:50 a.m. on September 23. This means that Saturday will be the first day of “autumn”, or should we say “fall”. Mark Twain once wrote that “the difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter.” In the case of autumn and fall, he was mistaken.
